Holy Pens Batman!

Awhile back when my husband was working for the storage company, he came home with a garbage bag full of pens, literally! There had to be at least 1000 pens in that bag. Apparently, this company bought them special with their name on them and put them in storage and just forgot about them, so he brought them home!

Well, he put some in my dresser drawer (don't ask why, because even I don't know), and he kept some in the bag in the closet. We thought we'd have pens for life... or at least a pretty long time. Pens always disappear in this house so we just grabbed a new one every time we couldn't find the last one we were using.

It didn't take very long before all the pens.. even the ones in bag were completely gone. So, now it's like 6 months later and I am randomly finding these marketing pens all over my house and in the craziest places!

I found one in my tupperware cupboard and in my bathroom drawer. I think my tupperware lids are taking notes on how to get lost so that I have to buy all new ones.

So, how was your day?

Lots of Blabbering

Today is the first day that all of the kids are home on break. Thankfully, for my sanity, it's only for 11 days. Then not only do they go back, but I have one more starting his school career! Yes, that is right the little birdie is leaving the nest..for about 4 hours a day. Wooohooo!

Dan called a little earlier to say that he was given his permanent hire on package today. So he was filling that out. Pretty good news there, except I am a little bummed because I found out that the medical doesn't start until he's been full time for 90 days and for some reason I thought since we already filled out the papers for that like a month ago, it would be sooner. I am happy that we will have it at all though.

Remember, awhile back when I mentioned that I would be doing something to my hair but I wasn't going to say what until I actually did it? Well, I ordered the supplies the other day and my friend Suz will be coming down in a few weeks to do my hair! Just in time for our Reno trip too. Which reminds me, I really need to go clothes shopping before we go too.

Speaking of Suz, she was telling me the other day how a mutual friend of ours was checking out jobs in Atlanta. I am not sure if they are thinking about possibly moving there or what. That's a city I would love to visit though. it looks beautiful and I was checking it out online and there is so much to do there. I always think of Good Eats and Alton Brown whenever I hear anything about Georgia though. I love him!

Ok, now that just reminded me that it is lunchtime here so I better sign off before the kids start gnawing on each other's limbs.

Have a great day!

Crazy Busy!

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how crazy busy I have been the last few days and I'm not even done yet. I am so ready though, seriously. The kids had their last day of school today so it is officially summer. Thank goodness their summer break is only 10 days long.

I have my Reno trip to get ready for, my son is starting Kindergarten, I've been working really hard on a project for weeks and I am finally getting ready to release that. Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for that. Don't blink, you might miss it.

My husband is off work in an hour and I still have yet to make the house somewhat presentable when he walks in the door.

I am so ready to look into St. Thomas villa rentals and take off on a tropical getaway. Who needs Reno when you have St. Thomas?? Just kidding Suz, we'll go after we get back from Reno!

Where is the Calgon when you really need it?

Only In My Dreams...

Yep, it's that time again, time for one of my notorious blabber-on-at-random posts. Ok, well it's not entirely about nothing. The other day I was watching a marathon of Clean House. I love these home renovation shows, even though they always leave me feeling a little tiny bit envious.

For instance there was one episode, not sure which show it was from, Moving Up on TLC, I think, but they re-did one of the spaces into a little mini-me sized movie theater.

I would absolutely love my own private theater, especially if I had my very own popcorn machine complete with a pump of that oh so special movie popcorn butter that I love so much. And don't even get me started on the home theater chairs, the leather, the cup holders....ok now I am salivating.

I think this is something my husband would agree with me about, don't you?

Anyway, out of dreamland.. yesterday I spent the entire day with a massive migraine. It was so horrible. I had to have my mom take the kids and get me something over the counter specially for migraines although it only helped a little. I had Motrin in the house but I had exceeded the daily dosage and it wasn't working anyway.

I am alot better today though, thank goodness. I better go start making dinner before my little ones start gnawing on each others limbs.

Have a great day y'all!

I Need a Boost

I am really dragging behind today. I had a bit of a hard time getting to sleep last night. Probably because I drank an entire liter of diet coke between 4:30 and 5:30 pm. Dan thinks it's a better idea to buy the 1 liter bottles instead of the 20 oz bottles because "it's only 20 more cents". Well, yes he is technically correct however because it will go flat faster after opening I have to drink the entire thing.

I finally fell asleep around 12:30 this morning and was awakened at 2:30 am by my 5 year old crying at my door. Actually, I woke up because Dan heard the kid first. It turns out my (almost) 14 year old decided he was going to sneak out his window and go meet his new "friends" in the park. He snuck back in and got caught around 3 am.

Then Dan and I were wide awake and I was craving pickle chips. Don't even start with me, I am not pregnant! We've been getting sandwiches from a shop called Mr. Pickles and I love their pickle chips.

So now this morning I have a lot of things I have to get done and I have very little energy. I have to get the rest of Dan's clothes ready for the weekend, he's working away and he's leaving straight after work and I've also got housework to do, not to mention design work.

My mom used to take herbal energy pills but I don't have any of those, so I guess I'll just have to stick to my coffee. Maybe today I'll make it a double shot.

About to fall over..

Oh my goodness it is so hot here today. I just got back from picking up Braeden from school and since I have to walk it takes alot longer. I barely made it home, I felt like I was goingt o pass out the entire way. No doubt it's from not drinking enough water, (which I am at this very moment thank you!) and it being so hot.

I got home and checked the current temperature and it's only 95 degrees! Only?!? That's pretty darn hot but I could have sworn it was more like 103. Then my son.. and only my son would do this, he was wearing a sweatshirt! I think I was doing double duty in the sweat department.

So I am finally home, I've got the A/C going and we're all chugging as much water as we possibly can to cool off. Speaking of which, the ac in the truck has been acting wacky, my brother thinks that it sounds like it might be the ac compressor, but he'd need to take a look at it before we knew anything.

Anyway, i think I am going to really get cooled off and get the kids ready to go down to the pool.. it is just way too hot today not to go.

Have a good day and stay cool!

Only 1 month and 3 days until....

I am Reno bound! I swear you all are going to be tired of listening to me go on and on about this. Well, guess what? Too bad! Ha!

My friend Suz has gotten us some great travel deals for our trip, I am so excited! She signed up with several of the hotels player's clubs so she gets good rates on hotels and whatnot.

Did I mention she bought us all tiara's? Yes, we're dorks but we'll be dorks on vacation and that is ok with me! We are going go-karting, possibly for massages, I am designing myself a new tattoo just incase I am feeling adventerous! I doubt I will get it because it's turning out to be extremely complicated with the design and the colors, this could get really expensive but really would you expect anything less than that from me? I think not!

Anyway, I better get going. I have to pick up the kid from school pretty soon and I am still swamped with work!

Have a great day!

It's Alive!!

Yeah, Iknow.. it's been a few days since my last post. Hopefully, no one missed me too much. It's been a busy week here at home between coming up with some new designs and helping out a friend in need, I've barely had time to get a whole lot done.

Not to mention that but, I had to go over to my mom's house recently and bring my work with me. Oh. My. Gosh. I have got to upgrade that woman's computer.

Photoshop was running crazy slow and documents were taking forever to load so I did a quick check and it turns out she only has 37 GB of hardrive space... total, not left and get this.. are you sitting down? 512 MB of RAM. I have more than that on my camera's compact flash card!

So I gave her a 120 gb hard drive that I had floating around the house. I just have to install it, format it, and get her some more RAM. It's not even an old computer. It's a newer refurbished computer she got from her office.

Anyway, summer is pretty much here and the kids will be getting out of school soon. I can't wait because it has ben really hot here and I have been walking to pick up Braeden from school. Then again because our summer break is only 10 days long, it's going to be even hotter when they go back and I'll have to walk Liam to Kindergarten mid morning, but that shouldn't be too bad. Wow, my little monster is going to kindergarten. It's hard to believe, he is very excited though and so am I. It's going to be weird only having one kid in the house for a few hours and then next year when Greyson goes to school I'll be left all alone.

Was that convincing, do I sound heartbroken? No? Oh well. I guess that's my cue to sign off. Have a great night!

The Weekend and a Movie Review!

On Friday, my niece turned 2! My mom and I babysat that night for a little while because it was also my sister inlaws sister inlaw's 30th birthday. Are ya still with me?

So my mom picked up the girls from the party on her way home from work. Lexi was so wound up, my moms aid she talked the E-N-T-I-R-E way home! And I believe it too because as soon as I got in the car she was calling me "Fyfe!!!" so I'd look at her.. except I didn't respond unless she said *Auntie* Fyfe. So then she did and I'd say what and turn around and she'd say "Look at my tongue... aaaaahhhh" and then I'd do it back and she'd be in hysterics. We pretty much did this from my house all the way back to their house. I nearly peed my pants LOL.

On Saturday was Lexi's party. Oh boy wasn't that fun! It actually was very fun except the birthday girl was a little crabby. She was happy just full of attitude and I think with all the people and all the kids in and out of the house was a little much. Not to mention that she was up til 11 pm the night before. They rented a jump house and had that in the front yard so she was jumping alot. They also had a pinata.. no one got smacked in the head or anything. It was a good time.

My husband kicked me out of the house for the night.. so my mom and I went to the mall to try on clothes that we had no intention of buying lol. Except that if I did actually find something I liked and it was cheap enough then I might buy it. But unfortunetly I didn't, all I did find out is that I can't shop at Old Navy until I drop a few. But I did discover a store, Torrid, and I think I will be getting a few outfits from them.. they really have some cute stuff! I can finally be a size Zero!! It'll be the only time though *wink*

Then we grabbed a small salad in the food court while we waited for our movie to start, this is where the review comes into play.

We saw The Happening. WOW, what can I say.. except M. Night Shyamalan does it again! I really liked it, I like alot of his movies. He has a way of relaying the message without showing you everything. Makes you wonder. It really made me jump several times through out the movie.

Here's a trailer for you.

In Search Of: A Happy Momma

My mom called me late last night to tell me that she thought maybe the dog passed away. She wasn't quite sure because it was dark and the dog was old so she doesn't really hear or see too well anymore, but she said that she touched her and she didn't move. My mom only had the dog for a few years when she "inherited" her from my dad. My dad and I got her for my 16th birthday and I'm now 32, so she did have a very long life. So, I think it's safe to say that I think that Mom is a little bummed out.

I'd love to be able to get her a little pick me up. She was talking about her hot tub the other day and how she wishes she could use it. It came with the house when she bought it from my brother and he promised her that he would fix it. Well, it's nearing a year now so she's just given up and started looking into having it fixed herself. I am not sure what exactly is wrong with it though.

She asked me if I had seen these hot tub accessories by Spa Scenes and I hadn't so she told me to look them up. I jumped on Google this afternoon and wow these things are really cool! They are spa backgrounds to knock out those boring old spa covers. They can be cut to fit right over the back of your existing spa cover without special tools or damaging your original cover.

I think that I like this one the best, probably because of the purple.

I really think my mom would enjoy something like this for her hot tub and give her a little pick me up at the same time. It might even give her a little more incentive to get that thing fixed so we can enjoy it!

Ace of Cakes

Can you tell I watch alot of tv? I really love this show and if you haven't seen it, you really should. It's just incredible what can be done with cakes and the cast (staff) is the goofiest bunch of people ever. It's on TLC.

The episode I watched the other night, Duff, the owner and head chef took this wedding cake all the way to Chicago travelling all the way back to Maryland where they operate from. It was a really amazing cake. It was a whole retro design and they had each tier on a very cool looking glass blocks that they sort of caulked together with some icing.

One of the other cakes they did on this episode was an anniversary cake for a couple who they had originally done their wedding cake for the year before. Apparently, after they got married they bought this amazingly beautiful home which was perfect upon closing and then things just started breaking. I think they said the basement flooded and some other crazy stuff. Oh my gosh, I would have cried if it were me. So the house WAS the cake! They stuck two little handmade people up on the roof and they had water coming out from under neath the doors. it turned out so awesome looking.

I want to order one of their cakes JUST to meet Duff. He seems like one of the coolest guys ever. I wonder what kind of event I could dream up to justify getting that cool of a cake and what would I have him make? Hmm, food for thought. Haha, pun completely INtended!

Jon & Kate Plus 8

I was watching tonight's new episode where the New Hair Institute offered Jon follicle transplant surgery so they flew off to California for that and Kate's brother Kevin and his wife Jodi stayed with the kids. So, the kids were being all cute playing out on the swing set outside in the yar, which incidentally my mom had one of those swing sets at her old house. She sold it with the house... but anyway didn't mean to get off track there. So, the kids are all playing outside having fun while poor Daddy is 3000 miles away having a giant needle jabbed into the scalp.

I seriously could barely watch. It's one thing when it's a movie and you know it's all fake but when it's a real life documentary and you know it's real.. ugh I nearly lost it. I absolutely had to get up and not watch the scene where she takes all the staples out of the back of his head, yuck. There were like 30 of them too, I don't know how she managed.

Ok, since it's over now so I can sign off for the night and get to bed. I was really tired earlier. I fell asleep on the couch for a little bit before the kids were sent to bed! That's how tired I am.

Have a good night, I'll see ya tomorrow!

ROAD TRIP!

My girlfriend decided since I've been on such an emotional rollercoaster the last few weeks that it was time for a road trip. So we are planning a trip with another friend to go up to Reno for the weekend next month.

Now I have to find some brand of diet pills that work, I don't want a quick fix.. just something to get the ball rolling. I fully intend on eating healthfully as well. I figure I've got a litte over a month, if I can lose a minimum of 1-2 pounds per week I'll be happy. If it's more, well then I'll be a bit happier now won't I?

I also need to get a haircut and a dye job. New clothes too. At the very least a few new shirts and definately new shoes. I really need a good pair of strappy sandals because the ones I got a few years back have bit the dust. I had to glue down the material that goes under my foot.. so yeah I think it's time for a new pair of shoes.

Anyway, got to run for a bit. All new Army Wives tonight! More about the Reno trip later.

Wow, I'm feeling old..

I remember way back when (in the good ol' days), when I thought 30 was old, Imagine how I would have felt about being 32? When it comes down to it, my actual age doesn't really bother me at all. What bothers me is the graying hair and wrinkles. I'm entirely too young for any of that nonsense.

I really couldn't fathom the day where I'd be worried about dying my hair on a regular basis to actually hide something rather than having fun and being different, or about having to find the best wrinkle cream. Speaking of wrinkle creams, there is a thread at DST about this very thing, so apparently I am not the only hot young thing having to worry about this at such a young age.

Ok, now that that random rambling is over let me tell you about my night yesterday. There was an open house at the school so I thought it would be a good way to get out of the house as a family and have a fun time. They were serving dinners for $3.00 a pop. For that $3.00 you got a hotdog, a bag of chips, and a soda. Not bad for only $3.00 right?

Then we visited our son, Braeden's, first grade class. He showed us all their projects they had done, his desk, and read us some books. He's so cute. He loves to read and he will read absolutely everything. It makes it kind of hard when I'm here on the computer to read or write things when he is around.

The funniest thing though, was when he went to introduce his Dad to his teacher. I have already met his teacher on several occasions but Dad hadn't. So his teacher says to Braeden, "Is this your dad?" And Braeden said, "Yes." His teacher asked, "What is his name?" and Braeden starts to say Dan but then changes his mind and says "Well, his real name is Peter....". Here's where we confuse this poor teacher.

Dan's first name is Peter and his middle name is Daniel, but he has always gone by his middle name ever since birth. So, Dan says, "It's Dan... although it depends on who you're asking." Then he turns to Greyson, our 4 year ok and says "What's my name, Greyson?" and Greyson replies "Mud." Oh my gosh, so funny. I wish Dan would have explained why Braeden said his name was Peter though. Poor Mr. Luperine was left utterly confused. I felt so bad for him!!

Anyway, that was my night. Today we are just relaxing at home getting ready for the weekend. Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

Just for kicks and giggles..

I love alot of those funny t-shirts you see all over the place for kids, not the offensive ones but the cute ones, like "Will Work For Videogames" or something like that but what about for adults. There are some great ones out there.

I had some free time on my hands today, you know in between the laundry and designing, but I came across this site today. They have some awesome tees for adults. I'll post some of my favorites..

And my absolute favorite.....

Finding stuff..

I swear I am the biggest pack rat ever! Hey, at least I can admit it right?

I was picking up the clothes off my bedroom floor this morning and I found one of my sons old golf shoes. Just one. I'm not sure where the other one went. Things always disappear in my homes. Not just this one, which makes it really funny.

I remember one time when my oldest, Kyle, was just a baby we lost one of his sandals. We looked everywhere for it, it was just gone. We thought we'd find it when we moved out of that apartment. Nope, it just up and walked away.

But yet, I managed to hang on to a thank you card from my brother and sister in-law for their wedding present... 6 years ago! The funny part? We lived back east when they got married and have moved 2 times since! It magically appeared in my linen closet.. don't even ask. I couldn't even begin to explain how it survived.

Ok well, that's enough of a break for me. I guess I'll be getting back to work.

Have a great day!

Spring Cleaning

I know, I know, Spring is nearly over and Summer is around the corner.

But sadly, the thing is.. I have entirely too much stuff. So, as I do the laundry I am setting aside all the stuff that is too small and either giving it to friends or giving it away on Freecycle. Can you believe I actually found some baby clothing?

We haven't even had a baby in this house in over 3 years! Old Halloweeen costumes I can understand.. those have to go too. My 4 hr old keeps dragging them out of my bottom drawer or climbing up on top of the washing machine to snag them off of the shelf. There is no hiding anything from these kids apparently. Imagine my surprise, to see a stray cow strolling down the hallway from time to time.. Yeah I think it's time to get this stuff out of the house.

I guess I should stop talking about it and actually go do it huh? The Man is off to go pick up The Kid from school so maybe I'll start on that while he's gone.

I miss my laptop!

Yes, I am still waiting for it to be fixed. Thank you to my wonderful husband who's been putting up with me taking over his computer for the last month and a half.

I can't seem to remember if I posted an update on what happened when they sent the tech out. Short version just incase I didn't, Dell sent a tech out to install the new video card. He installed it but it didn't solve the problem, then I find out they sent him with a downgraded video card not the one that I originally had in there. I need an upgraded video card for the heavy graphics that I do. He then says that he doesn't even think that the problem is the video card at all but possibly the motherboard. So, now they have to come back out with the new video card and if that doesn't work, I am not sure what they will do next.

If by chance they do have to take it, I wonder if I could get them to install more memory for me. I have 2 GB of RAM now but it's sort of slowing down a little so I'm thinking I'd like to upgrade to 4GB. It would be smokin' fast, how cool would that be?

Reno Bound!

A couple friends and I are planning a trip out to Reno for a much needed girls weekend sometime in July. I figure planning this far in advance gives me some time to save up some money to have a good time. The last time I went, it was for my birthday a few years back so it's a very much needed trip.

I noticed today, as I was putting away the bath towels that my luggage is looking a little worn. It might be time for some new bags.

I'm really excited and looking forward to this trip. Suze and I had so much fun last time, except she was pregnant and couldn't drink. But this time, no one's pregnant and we're taking more people. It should be a great time!

Here's the vid

Bwahahahahaha

Ok now that was funny! I was just cruising around on YouTube and I came across this video some guy made a as spoof on a Cadillac commercial. It was called Cadillac grills and cadillac spills. Oh my.. that was really funny.

I don't have time to do it now because I have to go and clean up a little before lunchtime but I will come back and post the video later. If you can't wait, then by all means go forth and search!

Wii Wii All The Way Home!

A couple of weeks ago, my mom and I babysat for my brother and sister in law while they went out with some friends. I had my 5 with me as well so we had 7 kids under one roof for several hours. It went fairly well considering.

My brother recently bought a Wii and he was letting my bigger boys play. They talked me into playing with them and I had a blast. So of course now I want one. I spent a good portion of the day searching out the best buy possible for the Wii Bundle. I figure if I'm going to spend that kind of cash, then I'm going to get the most bang for my buck as possible. The bundles come with the console, 6 games, and I believe an extra optional item like a controller or some kind of add-on like that.

So far the lowest, I've found was $475, which is pretty good but I'm still looking and if that's the best I find well then I know where to get it and how much to save up! I want to try to be able to save up the cash to get it by Christmas. I think it will be a good way to spend some fun time with the big kids, they never want to hang out with Mom anymore.. they are way too cool for that!

Super Sunday

It's not really all that super but it's the only thing I could think of that started with an 'S' at the moment.

Anyway, this morning my mom came over and let me sleep in while she made the kids pancakes. Greyson ate like 10 of them, I woke up around 9:30 and went down stairs where I was greeted with.."Why are you awake?" Wow, good morning, nice to see you too! If I slept any longer, I'd never be able to go to sleep tonight and I'd really like to!

Mom went home after lunch and asked if Alex could come over and help her in the yard. She wanted to clean her exterior shutters today and thought he might enjoy spraying them down with the hose. Heck, I might even enjoy that!

Dan is off at the races this weekend up at Infineon Raceway. he took our oldest, Kyle, with him to try to spend some extra time with him. He was telling me last night about the event they are covering. This weekend it's all old cars, he said they have about 400 cars so there should be a good turn out for sales this weekend, let's pray for it! He said that some of them were from as far back as 1915 and had wooden spoked wheels, the whole shebang. He took my camera with him so that he could bring back pictures for me. I will post those tomorrow after I get them back.

Right now, the kids are all outside playing hockey in the street. I better take advantage of the quiet and get the house straightened up before they come back in again. Have a great Sunday!
